Stay safe on Yen Express
Yen Express connects buyers and sellers in Agona Swedru and Winneba. Follow these guidelines to protect yourself and trade safely.
Stay safe — never send Mobile Money in advance.
Meet the seller in person at a busy public spot (Swedru Melcom, Winneba Junction, or on UEW campus) before paying. Inspect the item, then pay.
Meet in a busy public place
Always meet at a well-lit, busy spot — Swedru Melcom, Winneba Junction, or on UEW campus. Never at a private home or remote location.
Never send Mobile Money in advance
Pay only after you have inspected the item in person. Scammers push for advance MoMo payments — that is the number one red flag.
Look for the verified badge
Pro sellers have been identity-checked against their Ghana Card. The badge is a strong signal — but not a guarantee of honesty.
Inspect before you pay
Test electronics, check for damage, verify the item matches the description. If something feels off, walk away.
Report suspicious listings
Use the Report button on any listing. Our team reviews every report and removes scams quickly.
Keep your details private
Share your phone number only when you are ready to meet. Never share bank details, MoMo PINs, or one-time codes.
Red flags — walk away
If you see any of these, do not proceed with the transaction.
- Seller asks for advance Mobile Money payment
- Price is far below market value (too good to be true)
- Seller refuses to meet in person
- Seller pushes for urgency — "pay now or lose it"
- Listing has stock or stolen-looking photos
- Seller cannot answer basic questions about the item
If something goes wrong
Yen Express is not liable for losses from off-platform payments or in-person meetups. If you have been scammed, report the listing immediately and contact your local police. We will cooperate with law enforcement and share the seller's verified identity (Ghana Card) where a crime has been committed.
